Question about contacts.?!
Question: I'm 13 years old, I live in Decatur Illinois. I recently got an eye exam and was wondering if it cost more if I already got an eye exam to get a contact lens exam. My prescription is -3.00 for both eyes. I want plain contacts. My mom said the contacts per box costs 30$ but i need help with the exam? will the price vary on age?

A contact lens exam can cost anywhere from about $30-50 more than just a regular eye exam. They have to take totally different measurements. Contacts can cost anywhere from $15.00 and up depending on the brand and whether you need single vision, bifocals, or torics. Just because your eyes are the same for glasses does not mean that they will be the same for contacts. For contacts they measure the curve and diameter of your eye. I have been wearing contacts for 16 years and right now I wear Acuvue 2 lenses, they are $14.97 a box.
You will need a contact lense exam. The usually cost 50 - 60 dollars. If you have insurance, it will cover it. Contacts are aprox 30 dollars a box but can last up to 6 months per box. Hope this helps
Usually most Doctors will let you pay the difference between the two exams within a reasonable amount of time- say less than a couple of months- to allow you to get a contact Rx.
No, the price doesn't vary on age. It only varies per person depending on how much your insurance will pay for, if your mom's insurance doesnt pay for everything, then you might have to pay a little upfront.
