Eye Contacts Question?!

Question: I just got contacts today. The lady showed me how to put them on and take them off but I was just curious. Why is it harder to take the contact out if it has astigatism. My right eye has it but my left doesn't and I've been noticing that its a lot harder for the right. It took me like 20 attempts just to put it on and and 10 to take it out but only 5 attempts to put on the left one and 1 attempt to take it out. ALSO, I wanted to know how do you know if the contact is inside-out or the right way. The lady told me the contact curves differently or something but they look the same both ways. Thanks for any answers.

im not sure about the astigmatism being the reason its harder to put that contact in and out. im right handed and i had a harder problem with my right eye because when my left hand had to hold my lid opened it was at an ackward angle. keep practicing it get much much easier.

im not sure what the brand of contacts u have, but on mine it had a small C for ciba brand on the contact and if u held it up to light you could tell if the contact was the right way if the C wasnt backwards. there is also the "taco test" put solution in the curve of the contact and squeeze u palm together so that the contact makes a taco, if it stays that shape its the correct way but if it wants to unfold its backwards.

i hope this help you, good luck!

I have contacts and no astigmatism does not make a difference and it does curve differently if they're inside out but if you can't tell which side is the right one then just put them in whichever way and if they start to feel uncomfortable or if your eyes get watery take out your contacts and flip them inside out then put them back in!!!! : )

it takes a little time to get fully used to them

here is a little information. the first link shows what inside out looks like.

Don't know why it would be harder for one. Well for you. Could be just a personal thing ya know. Plus..it's always hard at the beginning. You'll get it in a week or two perfectly.

As for knowing if the contact is correct. All the different contacts I've ever used had "123" on them. If you put the contact on the tip of your finger and raise it up to the light. You will see 123 on the contact in white lettering. Will be torwards the top. As I said. It's kinda hard to see but holding in the light helps. If it's 321 then the contact is inside out.

for your astigmatism, think of it like this.....if your left eye (w/out the astigmatism) is a perfect round ball, the right eye has a slight bump on it. It is probably more difficult to remove the right eye because of your contact fitting differently on the misshapen eye. It kind of forms a suction and makes it more difficult to remove.
