do you mean diopters? not degrees?
I wore +5.500 contacts for years before I got the laser eye surgery, so if you are at -4.00 then yes, you can get contacts. I don't know what the limit is but 4.00 diopter is considered a medium range. 2.00 being low and 6.00 being high
I'm sure you mean like a +/- 400 Diopters of power- other wise your eyes are really really HOT!

Contact lenses have limits for mishapen eyes, corneal diseases, scars, etc... Some prescriptions will be limited only due to high astigmatisms. The average prescription is always possible, it is usually the health and comfort of the eye that becomes the limit before the prescription is an issue. As always, the best way to know is to go to an optometrist for an evaluation to see if you, specifically you, have any limitations to contact lenses.
