Strictly, it is strabismus when it's occuring.

You need a proper eye exam to find the cause, but the most likely one is uncorrected hyperopia.

If your eye is a little underpowered, optically, (needing a +ve Rx) it can often make this up by using some of the reserves used for shifting your focus for reading to get clear distance focus. So far so good. But there is a nerve cross-linkage in the brain, such that when the eyes are stimulated to focus close, the eye muscles are also stimulated to turn in...
Because that's what's normally required.
That doesn't mean the eyes always turn in as there are other impulses trying to keep the eyes straight.
But this situation tends to show more when tired, and itself tends to be tiring, especially for closework.

Yes, you definitely need a check-up, and possibly glasses.
Perhaps just for closework or when you're tired, but you might be surprised how well you could be seeing.

(Until you know, how can you know?
As I was once shocked on driving a car I'd been loaned...
"Hey, this has got BRAKES!".... twice the brakes of the car I'd been happy with, right up till that moment.)
