Same, I was just like you to start with. It's unnatural to put things in your eyes, so it takes a bit of time to get used to.
No, they don't hurt. They can be a bit uncomfortable to start with, but they don't hurt.
You just need to braver about putting things near your eyes. Try touching your eye (with clean hands) first, and then move on to putting the contacts in. Oh, and always do it in front of a mirror, in good light.
It gets a lot easier with practise :]

My very first pair of contacts were hard lenses. I could not stand to wear them. It felt like I had glass in my eye. Like you, I kept blinking my eyes when I had them in. I went back to the eye doctor and he put me in soft lenses. This was the best thing that ever happened to me. If you can't get adjusted to the feeling there are some lenses that are more comfortable than others, discuss this with your doctor. It took me about a month before I could just pop my contacts right in. Try not looking directly at the contact as you are inserting it in your eye. This is what I did. I have been wearing contacts for 16 years and still won't look at the contact during insertion. When taking the contacts out, grab them from the outer corner of your eye. This eliminates you from looking directly at your fingers coming towards your eye.

No not at all! How about you try and stare at spot in the mirror while putting them in to aviod blinking. My aunt has the same problem , she has this phobia about going anywhere near her eye so she has never been able to wear contacts. But I have been wearing contacts since I was like 13, and let me tell you there is nothing to it. I take them out and out them in without even looking at a mirror , heck the other day I took them out while I was walking to class with books in one hand. GOOD LUCK!

They don't really hurt... Mine were itchy and I just couldn't get used to them but I was told later that it was because I tried Soft-Contacts.

I would try to put them in and they would "Flop" so I would have to try half a dozen times to get them in in the morning.

It was annoying to say the least...

BUT

Everyone I know that has had permiable hard contacts love them!! You can even fall asleep in them and it doesn't hurt your eyes. (Just don't do it too often)

I have decided that I like the way glasses make me look so I will keep them but should I ever try contacts again I will go with the permiable hard kind.

They are 100X eaiser to get in and out then soft...

They last longer and are cheaper in the long run.

If you have an option, go for P.H.C.!

not at all you just feel a little scared at first but then you just get used to it...
