Question: Prescription Eye Glasses. I have notice a fast difference in prices of Prescription Glasses. Some Optometrist charging close to $500.00 for Glass and Frame and some ( at least I know of one) who charges under $100.00 For the same prescription from a Ophthalmologist. Anybody has experience with this and want know How Come?

It is often difficult for the layman to know the differences from one pair of glasses to another.
One may be wanting to fit you with top of the line Nikon aspheric lenses for instance, and the other one at 100.00 may be giving you just a regular cr-39 lens with a cheap anti scratch coating. The difference in the quality of the frame is bound to affect price too
Then again, some just charge a lot more because they have a higher overhead to cover, and like more exotic vacations.
Optometrists generally are going to be more expensive for the same product than an independant optician will charge.
Shop around. Cheap is not always good, like in anything else...but 500.00 sounds over the top, no matter what you need.
