Blurry Left Eye?!

Question: my left eye just started getting blurry, and i dont mean all of it.. like i was studying for an exam and then suddenly there was this little blurry patch in my left eye.. when i looked at a word on the monitor i could see it.. but down a tiny bit and to the left there was a blurry patch.. then it kept getting worse to the point where i almost couldnt see anything because it was blurry.. it almost looked like i had a special thing over my left eye that made everything look like it was under water.. like it was moving and blurry.. and when i would look in the mirror and look at the tip of my nose (in the mirror.. not looking down) i could not see my left eye. .. it wasnt there it was just the color of my skin and no eye.. and then i would look at the top of my nose and i could see it again. almost like a blind spot. what is this.. it got worse and now it is getting better.. but it is still there a little bit??

This sounds like an Ocular Migraine. It'll last about 20 minutes or so, then go away. Might get a headache, might not. If you do, every time, then this is the prodrome to your coming on migraine headache.

Usually it's not the left eye, it's the left side. Or right side, but never (almost never) both sides at once. And it'll stop at the midline as it's a brain thing, not an eye thing.

Next time you get this, notice it's in one or both eyes. I'd bet it's in both, but on one SIDE. The edges will be zigzag like and flicker, and the center area will be 'missing'. This central scotoma or blind spot, will resolve. You can sort of watch the thing march across the page or wall or table. It'll last about 20 minutes and go away. If you take medication for it, it'll last 20 minutes and go away. The herbal magic pills you hear about? It'll still take 20 minutes or so to go away.

This is due to a depolarization of the surface of the occipital cortex of the brain (back part) and the little line or wave of activity just marches across the surface till it runs out of surface.

There are also smell ones or Olfactory Migraines which smell like burnt rubber or skunky, and Auditory ones which sound like a diesel engine roaring and you are the only one hearing it.

They're not associated with any BAD diseases or strokes or tumors or bleeding.

This is what you describe 'sounds' like.

Woah. That sounds pretty serious. Consult an eye doctor. That's what he/she is there for.

Do you wear contacts? Maybe that's the cause.
