I have garlic in my eyes!!?!

Question: Last night, when I was cooking, I forgot to wash my hands after chopping up garlics. Then I itched my eyes with my "garlic" fingers, result in me screaming to run into bathroom, wash my hands, pull the contacts out of my eyes, and used water to flush my eyes for like half an hour.

THEN my eyes have been fine........UNTIL

This morning, I tried to put contact lens back on (I wear contacts everyday for about six years now). My eyes rejected them, then I thought, maybe I should try a pair of brand new contacts.

I put my new contact lens in my eyes, once the edge of the contact touches my eyeball, my eye just hurt like as if there were garlic in my eyes. Become really red and tears up and wouldn't let me put my contacts in.

Anyone know if this would ever goes away? How long?

Is this normal?

Do I need to see a doctor or it will go away in a couple days?

THANK YOU!

I don't know for sure but I once got straight horseradish in my eyes it really hurts. It sounds like you did everthing you needed to do. I would give your eyes a day off of contacts they are probally still irritaed if it isn't better by tomorrow you may want to see an eye doctor. If you go to the ER they will just flush your eyes. An eye doctor might need to give you eye drops if you scratched the eyes. Keep rinsing them to make sure everything is out you could also try eye drops to help rinse & soothe the eyes. Good luck. By the way if you have any vision problems go to the doctor right away.

Go to the ER!!!! They might have to pull the garlic out with a knife.

i don't think you should take any risks.. this is your sight and once you are blind there is no way back so you should definitely take care of what you have!

go to the doctors.. book an emergency appointment so you don't have to wait days for an appointment

but if the irritation gets worse then go to the hospital in A&E
