Eye Dilation how long?!
Question: my little sister is 5 and got her eyes dilated i'm assuming because they put drops in her eyes and shes crying that she cant see, how long will this last? she must of had it for about 4hours already.

It depends entirely on the drops used.
Some are relatively short acting, 2-3 hours perhaps for tropicamide, others can last 24 hours or more. The effect on the pupil size tends to last longer than the effect on focussing.
The longer acting ones in higher doses tend to provide more reliable cycloplegia for accurate refraction, especially in young children.
If this reveals uncorrected (and unsuspected) hyperopia the vision can be quite badly blurred till the drops wear off.
But whoever took her for her exam *should* have been briefed on this at the time.
24 hours and she needs to wear sunglasses that will help.
its never lasted 4 hours for me ....tops is like 2hrs i think
It lasts for a loooonnngggg time. like by 10 pm tonight (thats est time) and its still the same, no better, then you should be concerned.
thats a freaky thing. The first time I had it done it seemed like a long time till I could see well too. i was given some cheap sunglasses to wear till the dialation wore off and that really helped. If you got a pair for her to try that might help.
It can last for a long time, up to 24 hours for some people. When I get dilated, my vision is very blurred for at least 9 hours.
