Hard time finding new glasses (glare problem even with anti-reflective coating)?!

Question: I have bought anti-glare glasses from 3 different places but have been having the same problem which I didnt have with my current pair(only pair ive ever worn).

With the new glasses the vision is perfect however the edge of my eyeglasses catch all light reflections that are behind me. For example if I sit with my back to the computer I can see an image of the screen in the corner of my eye. If I am outside then any sunlight or overhead lighting is reflected in the corner of my eyeglasses.

One pair even caught reflections at the top the lens from light directly in front of me.

I dont know what is causing this problem and the opticians seems to have no clue either except saying that I might be sensitive to light. I also went to an opthamologist this year but he said my eyes were in perfect health.

Anybody hear of any problems like this and is there any way to solve this? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Caution the so called optomotrist is giving bad advaice again.

If you still have your old glasses, return to where you purchased your glasses, have them clock your old lenses to see what base curve your wearing on your new lenses compared to your old lenses. base curve is the front surface curve of you lenses.
If the are the same ask for an adjustment, if your glasses are wraped around your face have them remove the wrap or vise versa, also ask them to put retroscopic, or pantoscopic tilt on your new glasses.

these are common adjustments that can usually fix your glare problem.

Do not listen to OD's who tell you to get used to them, they are quacks!

I think you might be expecting too much from your anti-reflective coating. Anti-reflective doesn't mean you're never going to see reflections, it just reduces their intensity. I have AR on my glasses and still see some reflections from behind me (but only noticed when I really looked for them). Just give them some time and see what happens. This isn't a problem with your eyes, more likely you're just a little "reflection-sensitive". Good luck!

everybody can be more sensitive than others the ar lenses today are far more superior than the past. you might ask if the lensesback side coated. sometimes the way the frame is adjusted (certain angle) can affect this.during the day in sunlight not much with clear lenses try transition with ar or polarized lens with backside ar coating.

This could be a result of several problems- one of whitch could be if they just handed you your glasses and said have a nice day without properly adjusting them to your face could be a contributing factor. Also, it could be the material- a rare number of people are basically intolerant of certain materials due to the way they reflect and/or the Abberation factor, (Polycarbonate lenses) if not made in the newer Aspheric designs sometimes cause prismatic effects in the periphery of the lenses. What you need is a good optician to help you analize where the problems are originating- frame adjustments in most cases do wonders!

It's a piece of plastic infront of your eyes. The AR is going to reduce the glare but not completely eliminate it.

You are putting too high of expectations on the coating.

My favorite coating the the Crizal Aleze (2nd par with it)
