Answers: If I get over the counter will they cause any problems?

Places that sell contacts without requiring people to have a prescription are doing so illegally, and it's potentially unsafe to you as the consumer. Contacts are considered to be medical devices, whether they have vision correction in them or not. Yes, they can cause problems for your eyes.

You need to go to the eye doctor for an eye exam, where he will verify your vision power, measure your pupils, and teach you how to insert/remove and take care of contacts. Not everyones' pupils are the same size, and you need to get contacts that are the proper size for you. If they are too big or too small, it can lead to major discomfort, eye infections and worse. Also, with colored contacts...if the contact isn't the proper size for you, it won't line up over your natural eye color correctly, and will look very fake and obvious.

You should be able to get an eye exam and contact fitting at a Wal Mart Vision Center for $100 or less in most states. This will also include a free trial pair of contacts, and your prescription...you can order your lenses at the eye doctor's office or anywhere online once you have your scrip. It's also a good idea to go to the eye doctor so you can try out different colors to see which ones you do and don't like, before you go ordering them only to find out you don't like the way they look on you. Once you've opened a box of contacts, they are yours, and cannot be returned for safety/health reasons. Your eye doctor will let you try out as many colors as you like in the office.

Don't play around with your vision; we only get one pair of eyes to last us our whole life...

you can order fancy or colored contacts

you'll have to get them through your doctor so they can fit the contact to your eye, there are different sizes and your eyes can be different sizes, as well
