What happens when you get fitted for contacts and how much is it?!

Question: Hi, I'm turning 18 in a few weeks and my birthday gift to myself is to get some contacts.

I'll be going by myself so I didn't know what the "procedure" was like. How do they fit me for contacts? What if my eyes are too small?

And does anyone know how much the exam and the contacts would cost me?

I don't have vision insurance either. I went to a Wal Mart Vision Center for an eye exam and contact lens fitting. My total including the fitting and one trial pair of contacts was $91. You should not have any trouble finding contacts for your eyes, no matter what size you need...there are so many brands out there that offer various sizes.

The eye doctor will give you an eye exam, to see what prescription you need, then he will measure your pupils to see what size of contacts you need. Both are very simple painless procedures. He will then help you choose a trial pair of contacts according to your needs (dry eyes, normal, etc), and show you how to put them in, take them out, and clean them. After all that, he will give you your prescription, and you can order your contacts at the store, or anywhere online that sells contacts. Prices of the contacts themselves vary depending on what brand you need, and where you choose to order them. I've found 1800contacts.com to be very cheap, and they have great customer service and super fast shipping.

They pretty much will let you tell them what is comfortable to you. If the first one fits that's it, if not they will try another. An exam for contacts is $60 and up.

They'll perform an eye exam on you to get your prescription. That could probably cost you somewhere around $150. After the eye exam your optometrist will prescribe a brand of contracts to fit your prescriptions. There are disposable and permanent ones so the cost varies. It also depends on the brand you get. If you have poor vision or high stigmatism you might have to pay more on contacts. After you get your contracts you'll get "fitted" . . . basically they show you how to put them in your eyes, how to care for them, and making sure that you feel comfortable in them and that you can see fine with them.

well your eyes can't be too small so that's good. they may not have your size in stock but they can order them.
the procedure is painless but make sure you tell them that you are by yourself so they do not dilate your eyes. otherwise you wont be able to drive yourself home. they should take you for glaucoma test, which is a quick puff of air in the eye. annoying but other than that it's a piece of cake. nothing to worry about. now the cost changes from doctor to doctor.
you can call and ask what the cost of a contact fitting and exam is, and they should be able to give that over the phone. however, depending on the type of contacts you need, the prices can vary dramatically. mine cost 100 dollars for a 6 month supply for one eye! ouch! but some are much much cheaper.

i just got my contacts on thursday
im not really shurr how much they cost cuz my parents gave them to me as a gift
it depends where u get them
they are probly around 100 $$
and for the eye exam they put like this puff of air in your eyes!
and taking them out is reealllllyyy HARD!!!
good luckk
hahaha
