First off, when you say fake eyeglasses, are you referring to the stylish ones, that are nothing more then pieces of glass in frames, worn only for the purpose of style... those will not damage your eyes in the least.
now, if you're referring to reading glasses, that you pick up at the local drug store for example, they're fine to use for up close activities such as reading, and they probably won't do more then give you a headache, and a lot of stubbed toes if worn for other activities.

Are you talking about the readers that you can buy at any grocery store? If so, they are not fake, they just are not as strong as prescription glasses. They help people who have trouble reading small print but do not need a prescription.
They help me and I do not notice any damage from to my eyes from using them when I need to read small print.
