First pair of glasses, still not adjusting very well...?!

Question: I found out I needed glasses, I cant read far away very well and my left eye is a little weaker than my right and I have astgmatism in both eyes.( I could still see fine without glasses though). Well I got my glasses Saturday and at first everything was slanted and I felt like I was walking through the floor. The lady at the optical place said it was my eyes pulling because of the astigmatism and it should go away in a few days.... Today is Tuesday and the slanting has gotton better but I still see slanting ( like my computer screen isn't square).. is it normal to take this long to adjust to new glasses? I also feel like at times walking through the house that I cant focus very well and I find myself "staring into space" a lot. Also, now if I take the glasses off I cant focus at all on anything which is scary for me and things look slanted with my glasses off, are these glasses totally screwing up my eyes?

This could be just a simple adjustment done by your optician. Sometimes the tilt an your glasses can make things look weird. I would go back to the optician have her/him try to readjust your glasses and if it does not seem any better ask to be rechecked by the Dr. I would also have your optician check to see if the correct perscription was filled. Mistakes do happen.

Return to the Dr. and have them check the prescription out the store you got them at is not going to want to make another pair if at all possible. They just want you to live with what you got. The Dr. want you to see correctly so let them know what is going on to resolve the issue.
