What does it mean if I have 20/30 vision?!

My eye doctor told me that my son has 20/30 vision, because of an astigmatism. You need glasses.
it means you can see a sign at 20 feet what a normal person would have to see at 30 feet.
Its still pretty good. It means what you see at 20 yards is as clear as what a person with perfect sight sees at 30yards.
