Will toothpaste make my stye go away?!

Question: I've always used toothpaste on pimples because they dry them out really fast and it seems to work. I was wondering if the same thing would work on a stye. I have on outside my lower eyelid, near the tear duct and just under my lash line, so I don't think it could get into my eye. Might it work?

mm, can you say 'it burns!!' cause it will, you may as well practice now. To treat a stye, you should warm up some clean water and use a clean cloth to make a warm compress for you eye. Do it about four times a day and in about a week the stye shouold have gone down or disappear, if not see your eye doctor (could be something else).
If its just an annoying eyelash stye, it should go away within a day or two tops, so I would even bother with the compresses, but make sure to keep your eyes (and things that come in cotact with them sterile) clean.
I've found that wear eye makeup increasing styes, mybe go lighter on eyemakeup and make sure that you alway completely wash it off.

are you crazy.
that can make you blind
use eye drops and let time do its thing

NO!! PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!! warm cloth, and go to dr!

No, wash it 2x a day with baby wash or baby shampoo.

use baby shampoo. it works and if you accidnetally get it in your eye it wont hurt anything

i wouldnt do it. Toothpast has peppermint and stuff in it, and even if it didnt blind you, the fumes would probably burn the shi* out of your eyes...kinda like vicks

NO-PLEASE do not put anything near your eye that has a bunch of chemicals. Try something natural like cucumber or best ....go see your doctor

I would definitely not recommend this!

See a doctor, as sometimes styes require medication, but to soothe it in the meantime, apply a warm, damp cloth or, even better a warm, damp teabag - tea is a natural diuretic so it will dry the stye out.

yes, i have used toothpast many times on styes. put a generous amount on your stye and rub in. apply twice a day. also drinking drano helps get rid of diarrhea.

I felt compelled to answer this, since we treat this in my office all day every day. DO NOT PUT TOOTHPASTE NEAR YOUR EYE!!!!!!

The "cure" for a stye is to use a hot compress SEVERAL times a day. It is a clogged oil gland in the eye, not an infection. Drops won't help, medicine won't help. Often it will resolve without doing anything, but the compresses should help. If it doesn't get better, see your ophthalmologist who will open and drain it.

this may sound like an "old wives tale" but this is what worked for me. Rub a gold ring on the stye several times a day. Something in the gold draws the stye out. In some cases though, you may have to go to an opthomologist. He or she can drain it. My husband had to have this done because he refused to do ANYTHING about it...not even use a compress.
