Don't wait until you are experiencing symptoms of narrow angle glaucoma to find out if you are at risk. It's already an emergency when you have those symptoms.

You need to see an ophthalmologist, tell them you have a family history of Narrow Angle Glaucoma (nag), and you need your 'angles checked'. The Dr. will look at your eye with a special lens which allows him/her to see the angle of your eye. You will know for sure if you are at risk, and if you are, it's easily treated with a laser procedure called a peripheral iridotomy.

Unfortunately, the visual field test, which screens for other types of glaucoma, can't detect a narrow angle.,

Narrow Angle Glaucoma (or NAG) is a form of glaucoma that comes in "attacks" due to sudden increase of eye pressure. Between attacks the eye pressure is normal and there are no symptoms. During the attack there are often eye pain, nausea and sometimes vomiting. The eye may be red, vision may be blurry and patients may see halos around the lights.

I do not know what the signs are, but your eye doctor should be able to test for it. Whenever I go in for my annual eye exam, they ask me if I want to pay $10 more to have a test that checks for early signs of glaucoma, among other stuff. The test consists of staring at a screen and clicking a button every time you see squiggly lines appear somewhere on the screen.

Also, if you haven't tried it already, I would suggest using google to find answers. There are plenty of great medical resources online.

You need to have a pressure test done at each eye exam
