Are ALL soft lenses okay for overnight wear?!

Question: I have astigmatism and wear CooperVision's Vertex Toric lenses. I've worn them for almost two years now but every time I get an eye check-up, I completely forget to ask if these are okay for overnight wear.

I can't find any information online on these lenses that say either way. I did find an article saying that soft lenses like these made from the methafilcon material are very permeable, and comfortable for wearing overnight; however I haven't found anything specifically for these lenses.

Thank you for any help you can give!

Even though lenses are certified for overnight wear, it is still recommended that patients do not wear contacts over night.
Serious problems can occur such as GPC (little bumps under the eyelids) which is very painful, caused by over wearing contacts... Protein build-up on the contacts.. and Overall irritation, and some cases corneal abbrasions.
Your best bet is to wear them the daily recommended amount of time, and do not wear at night.

Have you called your Doctor's office? Being that they are held accountable for your prescription, that would be who to ask. It is best not to sleep in your contacts- as the oxygen feed (re-nourishment) is dramatically reduced- which gives way to defensive action by your eyes to "build in" red blood vessels to feed your oxygen starved eyes, thus the blood shot look-- not to mention you run a higher chance of recurrent eye infections. Unfortunately for you, the non- compliant wearers mess it up for all- and your can tell anyone what they want to hear, but yours eyes will tell the story to the Doctor on your next visit.

Do the right thing.....

I also recommend that you don't sleep in them. I have Acuvue 2 for extended wear and they still dried out my eyes. now I have a blood shot look. My Opthamologist suggested that I go back to glasses for a while. give my eyes a rest and then either alternate between the glasses and contacts or use a lot of artificial tears and remove them every night.
