I seem to have this promblem with my sight...?!

Question: The best way in which to explain is, that when you look into a bright light you get this glare which lasts for a short period. I seem to have this all the time, but only faintly. It's mostly noticable in the dark or when reading. I've had it as long as i can remember, and have appointment at the optitions soon. Any help welcome, many thanks.

I'm not an optician or ophthalmologist, however I work in the field of laser eye surgery. What you are describing sounds much like you describe it, glare (perhaps more accurately 'halo'). In optics, more than a simple perscription affects your vision. The cornea plays a large part in the refraction of light as light first passes though this layer before continuing through the lens and onto the macula. Now if your cornea is not relatively uniform in shape, ie: has unusual contours (areas of steepening etc) the light passing through gets aberated. While this may not present as short or long sightedness or astigmastism, it never the less impairs the acuity of your vision. See what your optician has to say first. If there is no conclusive evidence one way or the other, what I would suggest is this: go to a laser surgery provider - most offer free consultations, and ask to have your topography and wavescan images taken. An experienced laser optometrist would be able to identify if these symptoms relate to Higher Order Aberations (glare, halo, coma).

Hope this helps>

sounds like an optical migraine
