Hey, I was actually right about to have my lasik done at LasikMD in Toronto... I live just north of the city :)
I know the DOCTORS have a lot of experience but the pre-operative staff are absolute garbage
first of all they would have seriously over-corrected me since it seemed the optometrist didnt even try when she was testing me and she got the wrong perscription according to 3 other optometrist tests...
Also apparently my eyes are a little dry and instead of telling me dry eyes are a definite no-no for lasik she just gave me eye drop tears and continued with the tests...
I also have very large pupils but that wasn't a concern for them as "wavefront lasik" would ensure that I wouldn't have any issues (although it may help it is not guaranteed by any means)
I felt really rushed and that made me nervous, so I did my research and found out how screwed I would have been going there so I called em up 2 days before my surgery and canceled... I thank God everyday for doing that... I still cant believe they called me a candidate after ALL that!
Anyways that was my rant about LasikMD, I know most people are successful there but i would be living a horribly different life if it wasnt for the internet and my own personal research
I heard the one on Eglington is much better, I dont remember the name of it though...
I strong suggest you tell your regular optometrist what you want to do, let him do all the tests (also ask for cyclepelgic refraction... Very Important), and ONLY then go for your Lasik test
and remember, trust your intuition... if something doesn't feel right DO NOT IGNORE IT! YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SET OF EYES!
