How long should it take my eyes to adjust to my new prescription?!

Question: Yesterday I went to the optometrist because my vision has been getting worse and worse the past few months. I've been wearing contacts for over 3 and half years now, and I've never had a problem like this one before. The prescription in my right eye only changed -.25 of a power. And I can see perfectly fine out of that eye. But, my left eye is a different story. Its prescription changed drastically. It changed -1. While I have my contacts in, I find that I cannot see very well out of this eye at all. Everything close up is much too blurry. And everything far away looks way to clear. I am having to close my eye so that I can type this out, and stand to look at the computer screen. The optometrist made me an appointment to come back in a week, to make sure that my eyes adjust to the prescription. But, I am wondering if it is normal for me to be having such a hard time with it. It is causing a severe headache. How long should it take my eye to adjust to the new prescription?

If it is just the contacts it is possible that the lens was manufactured wrong or mislabled. If you had eyeglasses made as well, see if you have the same problem with them. If so, call the office and see if they can see you sooner.

the perscription must be too stong if you aren't seeing 'good' vision...
