Eye Hurting After Contacts (read details)?!

Question: Have had contacts for about two months now and today when I put them in, my left one started to make my eye hurt so that i basically had to squint because it hurt so bad. so then i decided to take them out but my left eye still hurts, even after splashing water in my eyes. my questions are:
- does this usually happen with new contact wearers?
- and what can be done when your contacts are in to make sure they are properly placed?

Ok, Hopefully you made sure there was nothing on your contact such as hair or dirt, Because that might have scratched your eye on the side or watever, because that happened to me once, and it hurt bad when I got soapy water in my eye then taking a shower, So I would wait a day or two to wear them and then try again.

this happened a lot with me when I was wearing contacts...sometimes a tiny piece of dirt can get on your contact while your putting it in your eye or it just gets to dry or something just put some eye drops in and tough it out for a couple minutes...its horrible and your eye will water like crazy but within a few minutes it will be fine..just put some eye drops in. if that doesn't work just try wearing glasses for a day if you have them, give your eyes a break

i had the same problem with mine. i will be glad to help you!!!
ok first question- yes it is very common with contact wearers. it is most likely because it is winter and the air is so dry. it makes you contacts dry. which makes your eyes dry to make them hurt. also it could be because your eyes are so tired, they would just want a break.
second- you could look closely up at the mirror and watch your contact go in with your right eye. it will take practice but it works. you should try putting a little bit of solution on the contact before you put it in. it moistens it and it wont hurt because it is wet. after you put them in, you could put eye drops that are over the counter in them. or just your solution. if it still bothers you, check out your local eye doctor. where you got them. you might have to switch contacts like i did because they didnt give enough oxygen to your eyes.

Contact lenses are chosen by your optometrist to fit the front of your eye (cornea) properly. The white part of the eye (sclera) is flatter than the cornea and so once you put your contact lens in, it will always move to where it fits as you blink. So don't stress about proper placement.

Now for the first part of your question. If there is something wrong with your contact lens (or something stuck underneath it etc), when you remove it, your eye will feel better. If it doesn't feel better, then there is something wrong with your eye. This is not normal or usual for ANY wearer, new or old.

This happens when something has gone wrong, a scratch, beginning of inflammation/infection etc... I would recommend you see your optometrist.
