Explain to your parents that you feel like you can be responsible enough to handle having contacts, and tell them why you think contacts would be easier for you to wear than glasses. Contacts really are very comfortable once your eyes adjust to wearing them, and they are way less likely to get damaged when playing sports or being active.

Contacts don't normally cause any type infection IF you take proper care of them. This means cleaning and storing them properly, and changing to a new pair as directed by the eye doctor or by the contact lens manufacturer. Your eye doctor will train you in how to care for your contacts, and how to insert and remove them if your parents allow to go for a contact lens fitting.

When I got my contacts, I went to a Wal Mart Vision Center, and it only cost me $91 (without having vision insurance). It would probably be a good bit cheaper with vision insurance. My $91 included the eye exam, contact lens fitting, one trial pair of contacts, 2 sample sized bottles of solution, a contact lens case, and my prescription so I could order my contacts from anywhere I wanted to.

If your parents still won't listen to you, maybe see if they'd be willing to set up an appointment with your eye doctor, where they could discuss the pros and cons of contacts. That might make them feel more comfortable letting you have contacts.

I know right? My parents say maybe when I'm a few years older.. i dont know lol
Say you dont feel comfortable or nice in glasses and they really bug youu

Explain to them why you really want contacts and that you feel like a dork in glasses.. ive had contacts for about 5 years now. Im doin ok. And glasses may be healthier but their a pain. Contacts are cooler.

well your doctor can say yes or no

keep bumping into things...

Contact a local office at Wal-Mart for example and check to see what an exam for contacts will cost. Then earn the money and get them on your own. Your parents will respect you for taking the initiative and there is not much they can say when you paid for them yourself. It will also give you an enormous sense of pride in earning the money and getting something on your own. I know this for a fact as I did this when I wanted a ten speed bicycle and my Mom and Dad said no.

explain to your parents that you will have a better range of vision with contacts, if you play sports that is important\\
don;t know your age, so will have to wing the rest
you have to prove that you are responsible do you babysit?
help around thehouse with asking you?
do you keep your room clean? do you do your homework without being told?
all these things show responsibilty
and if you do atleast 2 or more I would show them this.
and make sure you tell them about your peripheral vision is improved as well good luck hun

Well, i got contacts 2 yrs after getting glasses (i was about 13) They aren't bad, especially if you stick to the rules that the optician tells you!
I have never had an eye infection (5 yrs daily and still going!), i wash my hands before touching my contacts, but i have broken some of the rules.

You aren't meant to go swimming in them (umm.. I've done that many times, both salt water and chlorinated)
You're meant to change them every 2 months (i can't remember the last time i changed this pair!)

Maybe try having a meeting with your optometrist and your parents, i'm sure they'd be able to tell you how much things cost and what not to do. Just don't get angry. Be reasonable.

hope that helps!
