Can I get contacts?!

Question: I got glasses back in October and I have to wear them all the time, I completely hate them!!!
I reallyyy want contacts, but my mom keeps saying that we can't get them with what I need.
I have bifocals (I know weird since I'm only 14)
I also have a prism in one lense because I have a lazy eye.
I know I can't get a prism in contacts but they do make bifocal ones.
Can I still get contacts though? How much do bifocal contacts cost?

It is true that you cannot put prism in a contact lens. I would also say that a bifocal contact lens (they are available) would not be a good idea either. BUT, in my experience I have found that sometimes an individual who "needs" a bifocal or prism in glasses does just fine in contacts without prism or bifocals. Not sure why that is but many times that is the case. The only way to know for sure if you will be able to wear contacts without prism and a bifocal is to try. I would recommend going to see an eye doctor who has a no risk 30 guaranteed success contact lens program. (That's what we do at our office). This way you can try the contact lenses without a commitment and see how they do. If you are not succesful you simply give the contacts back and don't have to pay for them. The only obligation you would have is the fee for the doctor to examine you and fit the lenses. Good luck.

Bifocal contacats have a VERY small success rate. I have worked with an Optometrist for 6 years. We have tried with people who have been wearing Bifocals for 20+ years and its RARE they end up buying the contacts. In some places you cant get them at all. First of all it takes weeks of expensive TRIALS where you try the lenses for a few days to see if you cope. FEW DO. and you cant get your money back its either a success or a failure. (also they are Multifocals, OR progressive, never bifocal). Out of the 100's of people every year that waste time and money on trying them we have 2 people that can use them period. 2.They cant make them with PRISM so EVEN if you could get used to the Multifaocal conatcts they cannot make them with prisim. 3. they cost a fortune. IF you wear your glasses chances are your vision may improve, depending onm the condition being treated. I AM SURE THEY LOOK GREAT ANYWAY. If you dont like them look for other frames. The most important thing is that you wear them so if that means buying a new set you like so be it.

No, it's not possible. You can't get a prism or a bifocal in contacts. They're too close to your eye, and would stick out too much with the prism. Plus, with a bifocal, you'd be looking through both parts at the same time, and you'd have no way of differentiating between the two.

In short, sorry dude, live with the glasses.
