How does color blindess work?!

Question: I dont understand how colorblindness really matters for certain jobs and how to determine is some one is color blind. I see it as that you know the colors name like every1 else but that person sees a different color. For example: when I look at grass , I may see it as purple but I will call the color green because thats what i was taught. understand what I am thinking?

No it's not principally a matter of naming, it's a matter of discrimination.

Until the lastest change, exactly to eliminate a problem for colour blind people, the mains wiring colours in the UK were red, green and black.
A Deuteranope or Protanope looking at such a three wire cable would see two wires the same colour, and one different.
And disagree about which two were the same.
Not safe at all.

People with anomalous colour vision will produce "matches" in colour that to other people aren't matches at all.
Red/Green, Grey/Pink
Even if it's not a direct safety or function issue like railway signals or telephone wiring cables, that's not what you want in a fashion buyer or interior decorator.

There are plenty of simple tests for colour vision, the most common being the "Ishihara". It's not about naming colours, but whether some colours are or aren't different from others

No it's not that at all.

Someone who is color blind can't see some colors. Like green and yellow, they would see it as gray which makes it hard to distinguish what color is which.

Check out these sites, it will explain it better to you.

I have a question for you, but don't be offended in any way:
Since you are color blind, are you color blind in your dreams too? Or are you still color blind?

This reminds me...
Do you know if blind people see things when they are dreaming?

Color blindness is the inability of the brain to distinguish certain colors. It may occour as a result of exposure to chemicals (in an industrial enviroment for example). It can also come naturally as a result of genetics.

Color blindness is the result of a defect in in the cone-shaped light-sensitive cells of the fovea. Here are located 7 million out of the 137 million cells that enable us to see. What sets these cells apart from the rest of the cells are while the rest of the cells regiester only black and white hues, these 7 send back color signals - Red, green, and blue, which enables us to precieve color.

These cells are damaged or non-existant in color blind people resulting in the failure of the brain to create a full colored picture.

That is color blindness

omg thats totally what i wondered too!

except i wondered if it was like that with everybody.
like some people saw the sun purple, but called it yellow because thats what they learned

like they saw grass orange and green eyes as orange eyes!

It's a hereditary condition that affects mainly males. The most common form is red/green blindness. People who suffer from color blindness can't see those colors but only in shades of gray. It can be a real problem for them when it comes to traffic lights.
