My eye doctor recommended transition lenses because my eyes are blue?!

Question: My husband has hazel eyes and I have blue. The doctor didn't recommend transition lenses, but hubby opted for them because he spends alot of time in the sun. The doctor said to me, "With your blue eyes, I recommend getting the transition lenses for your eyeglasses." What is the reason for this?

Blue eyes allow more UV light to the cornea and retina. It can contribute to the formation of cataracts and age related vision problems. You eyes need protection just as much as your skin.

The lighter color your eyes are the more sensitive they are to light and are more likely to become damaged. Transition lenses are actually recommended for everyone to protect against sun damage. Sort of like sunscreen for your eyes.

eye color is a lot like skin color. White (skin) people burn a lot easier then black people. the same is with eye color. the more pigment you have, the more protected it is. More pigment also makes your eye or skin darker. So transition glasses are like sunscreen.

Lighter eyes are more are more effected by the sun. I wear shades. Transition lenses are weird. When they're half-shaded they make people look like they're some kind of dictator from banana land.

I say dump the transition glasses and get 2 martini glasses!

Another benefit is that drinking will change your eyes from blue to red!

for your eyes only , just in
