Is it bad to sleep or take a short nap with your contacts in?!

Question: The eye doctor told me it is okay to take naps in my contacts- but DONT SLEEP IN THEM!!! I have had experience with this- I kept the same contacts in for over a month. One night I woke up with a sore I and it looked like pink eye so I went to the doctor and she gave me antibiotics the next morning. That lunch hour my eye was so red it was almost purple so I went to the emergency room and the doctor said I had scratched me cornia from wearing my contacts too long. She actually told me that I was lucky because some people with corneal scratches lost their vision. Moral of the story-- dont sleep with your contacts in!

YES! I can't emphasize the YES! enough!
My dumb *** slept with my contacts in for longs periods at a time, normally a month or so. It's because my eyes are really sensitive so it hurts and itches to take them out and put them back in every morning. However, after a few months...I got an eye infection and wasn't able to get my contacts out myself. I had to go to the eye doctor and they had to sit there for 10 minutes pouring solution into my eye to get them to come out.

Taking out your contacts might seem easier now..but when you get an eye infection, you'll regret it!

I say yes and no. They tell you not to sleep with them in overnight, but I do it all the time. But there was this one time, my eye started turning red and wouldn't clear up. So after a couple days I went to the eye doctors and I had a minor eye infection due to leaving my contacts in too long. I still sleep in them but tend to change after maybe 2 or 3 weeks. I don't go for more than a month anymore.

No.

Short period are fine - they may get a bit dry so you may need a little bit of solution on them when you wake up.

We're not talking about 8 hours sleep here- a nap is a nap - 1- 2 hrs = fine.

PS Long term lenses (extended wear) can be kept in full time for up to 30 days. - They're a fantastic dicovery for people who have to get up in the night to smal children or babies - no more searching for glasses you can';t see though anyway or banging into things.

It's perfectly fine to take short naps in them (I do that sometimes) but DO NOT go to bed with them. Not unless your contacts were made specially for that.

Yes, cos they block the oxygen from going in. do use those silicone lenses that allows u to wear it to sleep.
