Dollar store glasses are different from prescription in these ways:
1. the lenses are equal in both eyes
2. they do not correct any astigmatism
3. the frames and lenses are not as of high quality -- but they are 30x cheaper, so they're easy to replace ;)

I suggest them to people all the time when the first 2 conditions are met. If you feel that they get the job done for you, then that's great. They will not make your eyes worse-- your near vision will continue to get worse until you reach 65 years old, and that will happen whether you wear glasses or not!

As an extra word of advice: people who wear glasses for distance often find it quite and annoyance to switch back and forth between separate pairs of glasses for reading and everything else. You could also eventually need a separate pair for the computer distance... you may have heard horror stories about people adapting to bifocals, but the earlier you start wearing them (40-45) the easier they are to get used to. I find it's the people who have put off getting them until their 60s who have the most trouble!

lol thats just funny "dollar store" haha

possibly;if theryre not the right strength lenses for you or the labeling is wrong and you get glasses that dont match your needs it could make your vision worse

If they are indeed your prescription, they are fine in a pinch for reading but not for everyday wear.
The real key to cheap glasses is keeping the lenses clean and free of minute scratches that can affect the lens. When I worked for an optometrist the lab technician showed me how to clean and care for glasses - which included washing them regularly in plain water with dish soap and using only cotton cloth for drying and wiping. Never use polyester fibers for wiping your glasses as they are notorious for putting those minute scratches in your lenses that ruin the lens. And try to avoid dropping them or having them in your pocket to reduce the possiblity of getting scratched by something else.
The nice thing about those dollar store glasses is you can buy 2 or 3 to have around the house in case you lose your best pair. Plus if they end up getting scratched they are easily replaceable. One thing you can do is buy glasses in progressively lower prescriptions in case a high precription gives you headaches. But make sure you have the correct prescription! Wearing the wrong ones can make your eyes worse.

I wear bi-focals but do not like them so bought cheap reading glasses from the dollar store. They work well for me. Be sure to get the correct strength. I have 4 pair all over the house , very handy and cheap.

I have them and they work perfectly fine !!

they just magnify,so mainly they are reading, or close work glasses,,,,you should get your eyes checked to find out if you are short or long sighted,,,or any other eye problems like glaucoma or astigmatism,,,can be detected,,,,your glasses should correct your vision,,,so dollar store??????no
