My Contacts and eyes getting worse!?!

Question: Somewhere i read that if you wear contacts, that it doesnt affect your eye vision. It keeps your vision the same. But that if you wear glasses, it just keeps making your eyesight worse. Don't ask wear i read this, i just remember this.

For the past half year, ive been wearing contacts...i wear them for a month straight and dispose them. There are times when my eyesight is extremely good, but sometimes i feel like everything is just going blurry like i can't read something that is right in front of my face. Also, im nearsigted, but also...aren't contacts supposed to help you read things from afar? I can barely read some writing from the screen standing a couple feet away. Do contacts worsen your eye vision is basically my question! Just to be safe, please dont give like any sh!t about "where the heII did you read that contacts are supposed to keep your eyevision the same" or whatever. thank you!

Contacts are supposed to improve your vision if they are used correctly and responsibly. This is because when the perscription is THAT close to your eye, it strengthens your eye and makes your vision stronger. However, if you use the contacts badly it will ruin your eye sight rather than save it.

The blurryness is because youre severely over using your contacts and youre probably not wearing them responsibly (Its also possible that its because there is an air bubble between the contact and your eye. After you put the contact in, close your eye and press down gently to push all of the trapped air out). Once a contact becomes old, the sharpness and perscription fade. This happens because they are over used and/or not being taken care of correctly. Also if youre not taking care of them and if youre over using them, it will DAMANGE your eye sight rather than help it. You will contract what is called Neovascular Disease. I suggest you lay off the contacts for awhile and follow these rules:

-Only wear contacts 10-12 hours a day or less.
-Do NOT sleep in them.
-Wash your hands before putting them in/taking them out.
-Always keep them in a clean container filled with sterile contact fluid.

You may also consider making an appointment with your eye doctor to make sure you have not already contracted Neovascular Disease. Its not always visable without the proper equipment. I also suggest you consider switching contact types. Some work better than others and since you use them so much you may consider ones that hydrate better and allow more oxygen through.

i also bought a contact and glassess.. however i use my glassess more often because it doesn't hurt my eye.... i'm not really used to contact because when you put it in your eye it feels so umcomportable and somtimes it hurts so bad.

neither wearing contacts nor glasses worsen your eyesight. someone else can do exactly what you did and yet maintains perfect eyesight. it really depends on individuals

when people are younger (preteen, teen), vison is still changing. i had times where i had better eyesight and then worse. my perscribtion changed alot. glasses or contacts DO NOT change your eyesight. but things like sqinting or reading in the dark or not lit enough space can do damages to your eyes. hope that helped. =]

The reason sometimes it seems that your vision is worse when your looking close up is because you are nearsighted and the contacts are designed for distance vision.... Your eyes have to work much harder to see clearly close up (in a sense you become farsighted because the light passes the point of your retina it is supposed focus on and your muscles are too tired to bring it back into focus)... if you try howver you should be able to focus the items close up...

the persciption might even be a little too STRONG for you, because in the distance you should still be able to see quite well...

do not judge a distance prescription with how you see close up!!
