Gel like 'bubble' on white of eye-should I be concerned?!

Question: Hi,
My eye has a 'gel like' bubble, that looks like it has either water or gel inside, about the size of a pencil's lead (a dull one), and it's on the white portion of the eye between the corner of my eye near the nose, and the dark portion of the eye. I had shingles that affected the eye about 1 1/2 years ago and since then, get inflammations often. I also see my eye doctor often to remove lashes that since the ishingles has caused them to turn inward. I use, as needed, an eyedrop for the inflammation, Lotemax. Is this reason for concern or will it just go away? Do I need to call my eye doctor and get it checked before my next appt. in about 2 mos. or give it a few days to see if it does go away? Anyone have this or have knowledge of it? thanks

Sometimes when the eye surface, or conjunctiva gets injured, there will be an area that is 'denuded' of the epithelium. It can grow over the 'wound' but leave some normal goblet cells beneath. IF this happens, the cells continue producing tears and it accumulates beneath the new covering. This is an inclusion cyst. It's not a bad thing, just a funny looking thing. Drops won't 'fix' it. It may burst, get rubbed off, go away, recur, etc. Many people have these. If it gets 'bothersome' you can have an ophthalmologist remove it under topical anesthesia.

Yes, you need to call your eye doctor. That is not normal and it a few days it could get worse.

Don't worry about it. It can happen and it will go away. Ophthalmologist won't remove it because it will look worse afterwards. It doesn't produce tears, Meibomian glands do.
