What will happen if I wear my contacts beyond the recommended period?!

Question: Like if it is for one month and I wear it for 4-5 days more?

I have done that before pretty often. I think the biggest issue is that with disposables there is less upkeep. For example if you have non-disposable ones you have to do the enzymatic cleaner regularly, which is not done for the disposable ones. I have also read that if you sleep in them you wear them for less time than if you don't. so for example, if you can wear them sleeping in them for a month, but you don't sleep in them, then wearing them for longer shouldn't be a problem because you will have them in your eyes for the same amount of time. Just make sure that you keep them clean and I would not sleep in them if you do because it really causes a lot of damage to your eyes they should have a break.

well, it's = not ok because if your eye doctor told you to stop wearing contacts, then you should listen to him/her.

I wear contacts also and mine are for two weeks. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding because I thought my eye doctor had said 6 weeks. I had a check-up and had been wearing the same pair for 3 weeks. My eye doctor told me that this can really harm your eyes. Apparently, you can get some kind of infection or fungus or something. One of my uncles wore his for too long and the doctor took away his prescription for contacts!! I think it is very important that we wear them for the recommended time. Hope this helps!!

I know that 4-5 days more doesn't sound like a lot if you're going to wear them for 30 days. BUT: It's a 16% extension of the period of wear you agreed on with your eye doctor! So don't do it.

One thing that can happen: as your eyes try to get more oxygen, they build tiny little inadequate blood vessels. Also you can get bumps on your eyelids that turn into scar tissue because your eyes are irritated by the lenses.

Contact lenses are already a not-so-great solution to your vision problems. Don't abuse them.

you will probably get pink eye. ps. dont keep yours eyes open for too long or else your contacts will get dry and you will get an eye infection.

My auntie and uncle both got an infection from wearing their contacts for too long so I wouldn't chance it

please understand that the cornea (front of the transparent part of the eye)gets oxygen supply from the atmospher. the prolonged wearing will interfeare with absorptin and leads to ulcer formation-- your story of wearing for 4 to5days should have caused problem
