Contact questions.?!

Question: Okay, so I want contacts, not glasses. I want to convince my parents, because they think contacts aren't good. But I've heard different. Please help answer as many questions as you can, and you get 10 points. I have a few questions:

Is it okay to get contacts before glasses?

Are they bad for your eyes? My parents say they are, because of the chemicals used to clean them.

Can you wear them at night?

And finally, what's a good brand for a tad blurry vision and a beginner in contacts?

Thanks everyone.

Ok I am a long time wearer of Glasses...since i was eight years old. I am now twenty seven. About seven years ago I decided to try contacts and I so much perferr them to glasses. First of all I can see much clearer with contacts than with glasses. Also my vision seems not to get any worse with contacts unlike with glasses. The contact solution that they use to clean them has been tested by the FDA and found harmless to use as long as it is done properly. Usely it is not recommended to wear them at night simply because while you are sleeping your eyes move so much in the REM state that they dry out the contacts which can if left long enough result in bad things happening to your eyes. Now they did just come out with a new contact lense that is suppose to be able to be worn at night but i didn't like them since my eyes are sensitive and they are harder plastic than i am used to wearing. But everyone is different so you could try those. I would suggest going with a soft contact and one of the Johnson and Johnson Octipital 2. Or in the same line if they don't make that one anymore. Usually if you talk to your eye doctor about contacts they will give you a trial pair to see if you like them before you actually buy them. Now be warned though that they do cost a bit more than glasses do. Also if you are a blinker like me it will take some patience to get used to putting the contacts in and out of your eyes. But I still do perferr them over glasses. Good luck in convincing your parents and I hope this has helped.

umm. started wearing glasses in gr2. contacts in grade6..

but no, they are not bad for your eyes (unless you buy those cheapskate ones).. sometimes your eyes just dont 'breathe' as much.. but you can get those 'breathable' contacts..

yes you can wear them at night provided you take them off BEFORE you go to bed..

good brand: johnson & johnson's acuvue.. love it!!
for beginner, get daily contact lens (where you wear them only once).. and if you're comfortable with them, try going fortnightly or monthly ones..
daily contacts are more hygenic cos there isnt that much contact with other solutions and air which might contains bacteria or germs.. =S

well if you're only wearing glasses like for reading (long or short distance), i dont think you need contacts.. you can just wear glasses when you need them.. but if you're a long term wearer (like you cant see when you dont wear glasses) buy both.. cos you need them at home and when you're outside you can use contacts..

dont wear contacts at home so your eyes can rest..

99.9% of people who needs vision correction owns glasses.. =D
