How old do you have to be to get laser eye surgery?!
Question: I am 16 years old, 17 in 2 months. I wear contacts (not sure my vision numbers) but I might like to get lasik sometime soon, hopefully before college.

25 years old. Your eyes will continue to change and you really need to wait for them to quit changing. If you get the surgery to early, they will just go bad again. I would wait at least until 23 or 24 and until you have had at least 2 yearly exams where your eyes have not gotten any worse.

I'm 24 and I got it 3 weeks ago. It was $4,000 cash (they don't take any insurance) so I had to save up for it for a long time. It is life-changing! My vision now is better than before with my glasses or contacts! It only takes a couple of minutes on each eye, very fast. Check in with your doctor to get more info...you have to be a good candidate so they will do several minor tests. Good luck!
Legally 18. Preferably about age 25. Most Doctors Charge different prices for different types of corrective surgery. Do not do fly by night cheap proceedures. Research your Doctor well. Make sure that they have had a lot of experience. These are your eyes and you only get one set.
I did a lot of research before I had my Lasik surgery.
Every surgeon I came across had a minimum age of at least 18, but some were as high as 21 years old. And all surgeons wanted vision which had been stable for at least 2 years.
My surgery cost $5500 for both eyes. I am in Northern California. Most Lasik centers have free consultations. They will give you testing, decide if you are a lasik candidate and give you a price quote.
