Why do people rub their eyes soon after they take off their glasses?!

Question: I do it, and I don't know why. . .

Answers: I do it, and I don't know why. . .

The glasses tend to prevent you from rubbing your eyes and you may remove them specifically in order to rub them.
Then there is the optical adjustment when your vision seems to be blurry because you now are not wearing your glasses - the instinctual reaction? Rubbing your eyes to clear them of whatever is causing the blur.

Normally, without glasses, your eyes would only suddenly blur if you had gotten water or other foreign matter in them - so you rub them to clear them.

It feels good :)

I think it's usually one of two things:

Either you're taking off your glasses because your eyes are dry and itchy, so you're rubbing them to make them feel better or,

It takes a second for your eyes to adjust when you first take your glasses off, so maybe you rub them to sort of ease the transition.

Um, i guess because your used to seeing better with glasses and once their off you feel uncomfortable with the new 'setting'.I have no idea to be honest.

I rub my eyes because there dry, and when I have my glasses on there is an obvious sheild in my way that I am just to lazy to move... so when I take them off and I can finally rub my eyes im like "mmmmmmm feels better" yep.

It feels weird to take off your glasses and you don't feel comfortable unless you have it on.... I don't know if I can explain it... but I like to do it too.
