PInk eye? Eye infection? What is it?!?!

Question: A week ago my right eye was unbelievably red and irritable. I finally tossed out my disposable contacts (which I had been using for way over a month... my bad), and started using Visine. My right eye got better in a few days.
But then I woke up one day and my left eye was just a little red. I've been wearing clean, fresh, new contacts and everything, so why is this happening?

My eye doesn't hurt at all. It actually feels really normal. I havent been feelings sick or anything lately, either. The only thing is, going across my left eye is a thick, really really really really REALLY dark red line. The Visine only temporarily makes it look normal, but it comes back and it looks really awful.

Is this something I should see a doctor about? We dont have health insurace, so if this is something I shouldnt have to worry about then I dont want to have to go see a doctor and make my parents spend a lot of money.

This question can not be answered based on the information you gave.

However, there are several possibilites.

1) Corneal abbrasion caused by your old contact. The visine will take the red out temporarily but as soon as it wears off the redness will return. This is the most likely senerio.

2) Hyphema caused by eye trauma from your old contacts. This is blood inside the eye. It would look like a dard red line across the pupil but not the sclera (white) of your eye. Below the line would be darker than above the line.

3) Viral eye infection that won't resolve because you keep putting back in the contact lenses.

Here's your plan:

1) Take out your contacts and wear glasses for at least 4 weeks. This will allow the body time to heal any infections or abrasions you may have.

2) See your doctor if you have ANY visual loss at all, any headaches, dizziness, loss of balance, or any pus like drainage from either eye (even if it already happened and resolved).

3) Don't wear your contacts for more than 16 hours straight.

You really should see a doctor, but I understand how having no money may affect that.

It probably is pink eye. see a doctor.

Yes see a Doctor NOW If it's pink eye it's infectious and easily spread to other people

Probably not and infection - they hurt.

Switch from Visine to some other drop specifically for contact lens.

Try leaving th lens for a few days.

Its either PINK EYE which is contagious so see your Doctor right away or it could be just your contacts irritating your eyes or contact cleaner or wetting drops that do not agree with you but no matter what it is you need to see a Doctor and get a professional diagnosis not one from off here
