Paying For Contacts?!

Question: Do you have to pay for contacts monthly? Like, how much does it take to buy contacts? I just got them, and my mom said it cost $300 for me and my sister every month, but I think I might have misunderstood the "every month" thing. How much does it really cost? Do you just pay for them once and then that's it? Also, I have soft contacts, but I can't tell the difference between inside out and the right way to put them on your eye...all facts are helpful!!!

Depends on the type of contacts you get. I have Night & Day breathable contacts, and I change them out once a month, a box for one eye is $60, so for both eyes it's $120, each box contains 6 contacts so they last 6 months.
To tell if the contact is inside out, you can put it in the crease of your index finger and flex your finger a little, if the contact rolls and kind of makes a tube it's good, if it sticks to your finger and does not curve in, most likely its inside out, another way, is to put the contact on the tip of your finger like your going to put it in, hold it up to where you can only see the profile, it's kinda hard to see, but if the edges look like they are curving out and not in, it's inside out.
Contacts are pretty expencive, but if I were to wear glasses, because I'd have to have that perscription changed every year also, it evens out for me.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Damn, does your mom think that you have to wear the contacts once and then throw them away? I use fresh look contact lenses and you can wear them for two weeks before you toss them. Might wanna tell your mom about that. They only cost like $10 a box (which would equel about $20 a month) And did they show you how to put in your contacts when you had your exam to get contacts? You might want to book an appointment at your optometrist office so you can be taught the right way to clean and put in your contacts

Holy crap.
I wear soft contacts, Acuvue 2. They're about $15 a box, and you have to buy one box per eye, but you're supposed to wear them for two weeks then throw them away. Each box has six contacts in them, so if you do the math, that's $30 every three months. If you add in contact solution and contact cases that you're supposed to replace every now and then, it'd be about $40-50 in that time.

[Personally, I wear them 3-4 weeks each, and I've never had any problems, so that lasts me 3monthsish, but you should follow the rules just to be safe.]

They teach you how to put them in and take care of them when you get them.
