How successful are multifocal implant lenses after cataract surgery?!

Question: That is going to depend an lot on your priorities, and objectives for vision, after the operation.

My current thinking, when I have my surgery done, which I'm planning for about four years time, before I get cataracts, is to request single-vision implants aiming at -2.25 R&L
( I do lots of closework, and I wouldn't mind wearing glasses for driving/TV)

I'm not ready to risk the possible enhanced night-time glare and loss of contrast and peak acuity , even balanced against the possibility of not needing glasses and more flexible vision.

But I suspect that's becoming the minority approach, with most people opting either for multifocal implants, or monofocus implants set for monovision: one eye for distance, one for reading (the brains that love this, love it, and those that don't, hate it. If possible, try it with a contact lens before the cataracts get too bad, if it's a possibility you might go for.)

The multifocal implants are not all the same, either.
ReSTOR, ReZoom, Array, all have different distributions of distance and near properties, and the Crystalens takes a different approach entirely.
