I have used several different brands, but it comes down to personal preference, amount and type of use, price and your doctor's recommendations. I've used Proclear, Acuvue and Focus. All worked well.

If you work long days or are forgetful (i.e. will accidentally fall asleep without taking out and cleaning your contacts), a high-oxygen permiable continuous wear lense like Focus Night & Day might be best. If you won't wear contacts that often, if you are prone to allergies (pets, dust, pollen) or your eyes get dry, a daily or two-week disposable lens that you change frequently might be better. Those lenses include 1-Day Acuvue Moist; ACUVUE Advance; Focus Dailies; Proclear Compatibles.

If you haven't had an exam or contact fitting yet, then I would do some research locally on which brands the optomitrists sell in your area- just call their office and ask which brand of contact lenses they sell to most of their customers. (Most people skip this step and just go to the first contact place they see and then ask what they would recommend, forgetting to take the recommendation with a grain of salt. Most optomitrists have a specific brand they sell - and are even paid to exclusively sell that brand.) Then pick an office to go to based on what brand you want to get.

Remember, you are not going to buy contacts through your local dealer, just try some on. You'll have to pay for an exam and fitting, but then ask for your prescription, which they are legally required to give, and shop around for the best prices on contacts.

Note, if you have special needs, like an unusual presciption or an astigmatism, your lenses will cost more. Take that into account when you are looking for eyecare providers.

you should go to your eye care providor. only he or she can perscribe the right type of lenses for you eyes. ignore what other people write on here and go with what a professional tells you to.

your eye doctor will make that decision for you, you don`t get to chose the brand. i wanted Acuvue but ended up with Coopervision Torics.
