I'm near-sighted and legally blind, but from experience, if you didn't have to drive (by boat, horse or whatever) or read signs, you could navigate quite easily. You have an advantage over truly blind people, because not only can you smell, feel and hear- you can also see movement, light and variations in color and sizes. So long as you had someone in your family who could see danger coming from long distances (like an advancing army, predators or natural obstacles like herds of buffalo or cliffs) you were fine. Of course, you probably were not the ideal mate because of your eyesight, so I'm sure the numbers of optically-challenged individuals was kept relatively low.

Most people couldn't read back then, and there really wasn't a reason why they would need to have perfect vision.

They just ran into things. haha. I guess.

I feel bad for those people!
I have horrible eyesight, I am near sighted.

My glasses/contacts are -450 and -475..and they aren't strong enough!

a big stick

idk.....good question, i geuss they just walked around bumping into stuff and squinting their eyes.

The dinosaurs ate them.

Poorly or not at all.

Survival of the fittest, after all. If all the visually-impaired people get killed by predators or fall off cliffs, the trait might eventually get bread out of the gene pool. No such luck nowadays, though...

they saw with their feet - odd thing 2 say
but they felt the vibrations from the ground in their feet

well u know all they had to do was get up close....but most people countnt read and there werent any cars

I don't think it was a major deal cuz they didn't exactly need perfect vision back than. I think in the times of royalty they used spectacles or a piece of glass.

i am near sighted i do not wear glasses i make land marks for the different streets so i do not have read the signs . just color blind people know what color green or red looks to them so the do not run a red light

good question!

stayed at home and use thier ears?

You do know near-sighted means you see up close? Well , if you are born that way, you do not realize that other people see farther than you.. You just get accustomed to not seeing things at a distance and make adjustments for it.. like waiting until you get close enough to read the sign or see the color of the light.. Its not too terribly hard..but I am not really bad like some people are.
