Does Medicaid pay for new glasses every other year still?!

Question: I recently saw my eye doctor. I am on SSI and I had not been in for 4 years they told me. I had not gone in as my eyes did not change on the prior exam and I was not having any trouble with them. (I do not recommend this behavior.) Anyway I went in and even though I am a senior citizen, wow, my eyes did not change again!!! This is good yes?
Ok, my question is, as a disabled person for nearly 14 years, I have always been called into my eye doctor for a visit every other year, and automatically, with new precription, however small, issued a new pair of frames. This last visit, even though I had missed my visit for two years, they failed to even mention new frames. Has my eye doc,...from a small town.. gone ill legit? One of those docs who scams the state? Or did they stop issuing frames every two years? Not too worried about me, worried about others in more need.. Help?

Did you bring up your specific concerns with the eye doctor you saw? If so, what was his/her reaction to your concerns? Is it the same eye doctor/ office you've been seeing through the years? I would approach the eye doctor first and ask why you weren't given a new prescription for glasses since in the past, even the smallest change warranted a new prescription. If he/she says that there is absolutely no change I would have the doctor show you, directly from your file, the prescription from last time and compare them to what you're results were this time so that you can see for yourself that the "numbers" are exactly the same. My mom is also on Medi-Cal (the Calif. version of Medicaid) and she still get's glasses every two years. I hope this helps you're situation a bit. Take care.
