:) hiiiii!
I have bad eyesight too, i wear contacts and i'm legally blind. Got -4.0 in one eye and -3.75 in the next.

Soo i feel your pain and where your comming from!

10 ways to improve eyesight
-Cut the amount of time you are on the computer.
-Don't sit close to the computer or t.v.
-Don't read in the dark
-Don't strain or squint your eyes on the whole
-Never look directly in the sun
-Aviod fast food etc. stick with the greens not only carrots help
-Milk helps!
-Don't rub your eye! Never even when it's itchy it damages it!
-Keep glases CLEAN!
-Cut the amount of mascara you use.

Used to be some glasses that had something like pinholes in them that were supposed to work. Check ebay.

Eat lots of greens!

Don't strain your eyes. Take consistent breaks from watching tv, from reading, from being on the computer even! Make sure you have good lighting for all your activities. Yes, do eat carrots! hope this helps! =)

You could get laser eye surgery, or you could get contacts.

Lasik laser surgery, eyeglasses, contact lenses--all of these things bring in millions and million and millions of dollars of revenue every year. Laser surgeries in particular are really rising fast.

Why all the fuss and cash spent? TO IMPROVE VISION! If methods likes Bates, or pin-hole glasses, or eating certain specialized foods worked, I firmly believe the word would spread and people would use such methods/foods, and not spent so much money on surgery or vision correction lenses.

Look at how many people commonly know that broccoli is one of the best foods to eat to help staff off cancer. It works, it's been scientifically proven, and people follow it, and the word is spreading. We all know how to try to prevent cancer--don't smoke, eat lots of leafy greens, particularly broccoli...

If such cut and dry things applied to vision, the word would be out, yes, the word would be out... But so far I haven't heard that eating yams or Northern fish oil, or even doing certain eye exercises every night, will staff off--as scientifically proven--the chances of having to wear contact lenses or thicker glasses for poor vision as one ages, have you?!

(P.S. There isn't even any scientific proof that sitting too close to the TV, or spending too much time at the computer can make your vision worse--all of these things are so variable, as our eyes are as well. Many modern doctors say that things like TV and computer time have no effect on our eyes and long term vision changes, other say they do...!

One of the only things everyone seems to agree on is to limit as much as possible your exposure to UV/UVB light--ie. sunlight. This can and does affect the eyes negatively over long term exposure.)

Well said, Todd

There are so many silly stories and old wives tales, and plain wrong information out there about how to cure vision problems, it's ridiculous.

I really wonder what the schools are teaching after seeing so many strange questions and advice going on in the optical section.

So many people who have no clue are giving advice as though it was fact.

The most common silly misconception is the carrot eating to improve your vision.

Then another gives a list of 10 things to do...the only one that makes sense is to keep your glasses clean.

Your visual problems are caused by physical changes in your eye.

I don't know how old you are, but once your vision is stable, no changes for a couple of years, you can look into laser surgery.

If you are still in your teens, there really isn't much to do about it.

Being as concerned as you are, you should discuss any possible options with your eye doctor. He/she is the only one who knows your condition.

No amount of snake oil suggested here can help you.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

BUY A PAIR OF CONTACT LENSES OR LASIK surgery.
