Can someone help? I think i've a problem with my eyes?!

Question: My previous job was being a data entry clerk. I was on the computer 7-9 hrs a day for 3 years. On some days i'd come home, check my email, chat with a few friends and research things on the internet. Half of my Sundays i'd do the same since Sunday is not such an exciting day for me. When i was laid off last December, i started looking for jobs online, applied, u know the drill. Then i stumbled upon Y/A and loved it. Could this be the reason why my eyes are becoming sensitive to screens and light overall? I also seem to get headaches and become dizzy. Half of the time i cant stand the constant talking of my mom (is this even a related issue?) Besides not logging online, what else can i do? What is "medically" happening to my eyes? Thanks!

You do need to get your eyes tested. And if you were working in the UK at a computer, your employer should have paid for your eye test!

Check the health and safety issues in detail, concerning extensive use of computers, on Google.

Basically, you should have comfortable seating, the desk should be the correct height and depth. The monitor should be far enough away from your eyes, and the screen position should be adjusted for best visibility, and not too bright.

Most important, you should take 5 minutes break away from the PC, every 30 minutes! (Yes, I know, YA is addictive and you lose track of time!) But it is REALLY important to give your eyes a rest at these intervals. This should have happened at work too, but employers usually 'forget' to mention it!

Your headaches and dizziness are probably the result of constantly looking at the screen. Your Mother's talking may be causing additional stress because of the symptoms you are suffering, or it could be simply an annoyance because of your addiction to the PC. Either way... you need to get out more!

ur probably strainning your eyes with the brite light from the computer, go see an optomotrist
