Dry Contacts?!

Question: I wear contacts and have for years. I have tried many brands, and the problem is they seem to get very dry over time. I have tried the re-wetting drops and they only work for a short time. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have your tried silicone hydrogel lenses? Or the ProClear's with PC technology? These are the cutting edge lenses for not drying our and absorbing water from the eye. I wear silicone hydrogel Purevision lenses, and have almost no problems wearing them for 16+ hours.

When I do "feel" the lenses, a drop of Blink drops (with hyaluronate) in each eye, makes them feel great for at least a couple of hours...

I strongly suggest asking your optometrist about other contact brands...maybe that you haven't tried. For example, I think there is something called Acuvue Oasis, and they are supposed to be very moist. Also, take into consideration different lens-rinse that you're using, and I still strongly suggest re-wetting drops. They help me all the time.

i wear contacts myself.
if they keep getting dry try changing them more often or taking them out earlier than normal and wear glasses.

O2Optix

I get dry eye too. A good brand of rewetting drop is Systane. You can use them multiple times a day.

I do not know if you do, but if you sleep in your contacts, it can really dry them out. If you remove them early in the evening, that may also help. Make sure you change your lenses out enough with new ones.

Also, next time at the opthomologist office, ask them about their favorite brands of eye drops and any secrets they know.

you can get plugs :) yeah sounds weird, but they put these at the inner edge of your eye, it's painless and it only takes like 5 mins. They put these on me before i got my lasik done, cause i had really dry eyes, and I had to retain more tears. maybe you suffer from eye dryness, and when you do, they don't recommend you use contacts, cause it only makes it worse, your eyes are always red, and you can't even roll the window down on a car cause you can't see because of your eyes getting so dry, been there done that, it's a pain.
