Lasik eye surgery?!

Question: So I've heard of lasik eye surgery for fixing your vision. I'm wondering because my mom told me that after you lasik eye surgery, and you don't protect your eyes you will still need to go back to wearing glasses. is that true? also do you have to pay for the surgery? Some of my friends got lasik eye surgery and they say is safe but some people say its not safe. so is its safe or not? How long does it take to fix your vision during the lasik eye surgery and where do you take the surgery? you can give me other informations i don't know about lasik eye surgery. thank you

P.S is wearing contact lens good or bad? because my friend say that once they wear it, it's hard for them to take it off.

(maybe glasses is safer than contact lens or lasik eye surgery. or not)
also my vision problem is myopia

You will likely need reading glasses earlier than you normally would if you have LASIK performed. Honestly I was wearing glasses just to function so that wasn't an issue for me. You should be wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from UVA/B rays, same is true after surgery. If your vision is still changing it may change after the surgery. So you'll want to make sure you've had a failry stable prescription for a few years before you go ahead with the surgery.

The procedure itself only takes a few minutes. You will get the disclaimer "booklet" with pretty much everything known that can go wrong that you have to sign off on before the procedure. Most people are nervous about the surgery because IT IS THEIR EYES. They are sensitive organs and if you have complications the remifications can be very severe.

You will probably need to stop wearing your contacts for a period before your surgery. Hard to say I had contacts but normally wore my glasses, due to my work environment.

Unless your insurance company covers it, and few still do. You're going to pay for it...about $2.6k-3.6k for the whole mess. Depending on what procedure you need/choose to have done and who's doing it. You should get a pretty good consultation, and be able to ask questions of the pros, when they check to see if you are a good candidate. That usually runs around $130. There are places that do it "cheaper" but they don't mention all the follow-up care, prescriptions, eye drops, etc. I use the "parachute" theory. If you're buying a parachute you plan on using, and you don't quite know what to look for, are you going to buy bargin bin 2nd-hand store or pay the premium and make sure it's going to open. :)

Instead of wearing corrective lenses which worsen your eyes and make them weaker (going from like, a 2.5 diopster to a 3 gradually) you can try eye exercises.

It totally works, and it's much safer then lasik which your vision comes back after couple of years or even 1 year. Lasik can make you blind.
Wear glasses if you;re driving or the like, and sometimes put them on for 5 minutes to see what the world looks like clearly, and asfer you take them off try to imagine it.
Sunglasses are also bad as they don't give your eyes sunlight, aka uv rays. some uv rays are yes bad for you. But the good uv rays give your eyes more nutrition and if you notice after you look at sunlight with closed eyes moving your head from side t side, then put your palms over your closed eyes (called palming) and do both for about 3 minutes your vision when you open yor eyes will get better.

There is so much involved, it would take pages to explain. Find a lasik website and read all of the stuff of there.

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
