How long do the effects of lasik surgery last?!

Question: so funny i just had it done today ( not suppose to be on the computer but i love answers). not quite sure what you approach to your question is but here it is . I have an excellent Doctor who has been doing this for 25 years. and the way he and his technicians explained it to me is that you will have the normal age advancing syndrome with your eye but if you have just bad eyes any way you can deffer some of that progression for a while. I was classified as legally blind without my glasses. I can see better not great but like i said it was just today and i need to get my rest so that my eye can heal. but if you find a good doctor. he will answer all the questions be for you ask. and will not hesitate to answer any that may seam dumb good luck and i pray that you will find one that not only offer lasik but also mono vision or custom vision. The custom is what i had done the More expensive this is where one eye is ( the weaker eye) for reading and my stronger eye was adjusted for further distance. not 20/20 yet but after wearing glasses for forty years this is great

forever

it permanently alters your lens
Thats why it is so expensive ;)

It depends on what type of effects you are talking about. After lasik there is sometimes blurriness and other effects that usually go away after a while. Just keep taking your meds and do as your doc says and go back for your 1 day check up and 1 month and 3 month and all the others. If you are talking about how long your eyes will be "fixed" then it usually lasts quite a while. Most of the time for many years. Sometimes after a while people will need to go back for enhancements after Lasik to adjust the correction because your vision can keep changing even after Lasik. So technically you can't say its perminant but it's usually pretty close.

The effect it has on your eye is, by and large, permanent.
(Only in VERY rare cases does the cornea shift, later, due to it being weakened by the surgery (ectasia) )
It never "wears off" in that sense, though it can take three months to as much as a year for the cornea to fully stabilise after surgery (though the variation is very usually very small over that time.)

But if your eye later changes Rx, or has other visual issues, the Lasik surgery can't compensate for that.

That's why it's so important to know that your Rx is unchanging, has been static for at least two years, before having Lasik.

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
