Life-span of contact lenses is rated by "wear time". Any day that you wear them for over 8 hours or so would count as a single day. If they are rated for 14 days, then you could wear them for fourteen days, over 8 hours each day. It might take you 3 months to wear them for a total of 14 days if you are a non-frequent wearer, but as long as you keep them clean and disinfected, you will be fine...

It's not talked about much, but most people get much more wear time out of their soft contact lenses that what the manufacturer recommends. Most people I know double the time. So a 14 day lens then becomes a 30 day lens. I am not advocating that you wear them longer than what the manufacturer or your OD recommends, just letting you know what others have successfully done. It's important to realize that everyone done from the manufacturer to your OD makes money on selling you new lenses. They don't want us to remember the days when non-disposable lenses were very similar to todays disposables, but worn for much longer periods of time.

It should count how many days you wear them. I guess I;m new to this too, I just recently got contacts and don't wear them everyday either.

Ok, I have contacts for a couple years. What it means is every couple weeks you change it. Like lets say you opened contacts and wore them the week of feb 1, then in 2 weeks no matter how many times you have worn them, you throw them away and get a new pair. Also, to help you save money, you can were your contacts for like 4 weeks, seriously, it will save u money and my doctor said that it is completely safe, but if the contacts are uncomfortable or u cant see, then change them.

Yeah whatever day you wear them or not you toss them 2 weeks PerioD!
