I'M TOO YOUNG for contacts!?!

Question: GRR... right now I have glasses when I went to the eye doctor he said I might be too young for contacts, im 13. But really responsible (probably too responsible for a 13 year old) Anyone I ask says i might be to young, atleast at Lenscrafters. I'm getting tired of hearing it. I think its worth a try. I have seen 10 year olds with contact lenses and also other 13 year olds. Is this true?

Stick to your guns--you are NOT too young for contacts, and you sound very motivated and ready to learn to boot. If anyone, like Lenscrafters, tells you that you too young, move on. Call around to different OD's offices and ask what their age policy is before you visit (and do tell them that you are mature and motivated). This could save you money and get you into the right OD's office, one that is willing to work with someone your age who is motivated.

i was 9 when i got my comtacts. i saw screw the eye doctor! YOU GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! lol

i have friends that have contacts and they are 14 so you should be able to get them.

if u take real good c are of them, and are precocious as it's kind of evident in ur text. I am sure ur opticion will agree, knowing he can trust u .

Your eye doctor should know which age is best. I am sure he probably knows more about it than a 13 year old. No offense, but I am sure he knows what he is talking about when he says you are too young. I have never heard of anyone your age having contacts.

I honestly don't think it's the doctors business whether you are too young. it's not like they are paying for them. Anyways I know for a fact that their are a lot of young kids wearing contacts. I know of an 8 yr. old in my neighborhood wearing some.

should be able to go with disposable then you dont have to wory about losing them but your parent is the enitial persont to decide if they say no to your doc then he will say no to you

If you feel you are ready for them then I would go for it. I got mine at a fairly young age so its possible! The doctor will take the time to show you how to put them in and take them out and hopefully will not let you leave until they are sure that you know what you are doing. Good luck!

You are not too young to get contacts trust me you can never be too young for contacts they don't hurt your eyes in any way its like putting on a glove i am 13 and I wore contacts since I was 12 so if you want them get them you are NOT too young trust me

I got contacts when I was ten. He can't tell you you're too young to get them, it's YOUR choice whether or not to get them. March in there and tell him you want them, and if he says no, ask your mom if there's another place you can go to.

I know many many people with contacts. One of them is me. I have had contacts sense i was in 5th grade (10 years old) and more and more people are getting them. If yo get Acuvue Oawasis (or w/e their called) theyre so comfortable and are easy to care for and junk. They aren't hard to keep clean and put in ur eye and stuff. I think you should get them.

My dad got contacts when he was 12 when corneal contacts first came out, and I got mine just recently, only two months after I turned 14. You're not too young. Get some contacts. Also, you're going to lose at least one within the first few weeks. It just happens, no matter how responsible you are.

Yeap I was 13 when I got mine and Now I';m 14 lol You'll get em don't worry. It took me like 20 minutes to get them in and it was tough for the first week but they are really not as bad as everyone says they are I can get them on in like 10 seconds without a mirror now so I'm sure your plenty old enough as long as your responsible because if you leave them in over night they can develope "ulcers" bacteria on your eye and you can go blind But other than that You should be fine!

nah youre not too young if u say youre really responsible.
i got mine when i was 11
i was an okay pretty responsible kid
and i didnt have any problems
it just really depends on the person
if you really want them, just get them!
i use the soft contact lenses (acuvue hydraclear with oasis & freshlook colorblends colored contacts)
acuvue is suuuperr comfortable and they're not hard to handle and they look good too (:
