Do hold your eye open to discourage the blinking reflex. And this sound odd, but--try to focus on your image in the mirror, and not what you are actually seeing, that is to say your finger coming in to your eye. Try to instead focus on your image in the mirror and what you are doing...

Also try as much as possible to relax and be calm. Tell yourself that you will indeed be succesful and then proceed with slow and steady movements. I also like to put a drop of re-wetting drops into the contacts before applying. It helps them to stick to the eye and float into proper position.

Remember it's hard at first for all of us, but it does get easier (and it's pretty fast too!)

You just have to practice and get used to them. Hold both lids open with one hand and use the other to put in the contact. Once you have it in, look up and it will center on your eye. Good luck.

Lean over a hand mirror on the counter or table (flat surface) to put them in. Look directly at your eye in mirror, while you put them in. One hand is holding lid open while fingertip of other hand holds contact. It gets easier each day. Don't worry about hurting your eye. They are tougher than one realizes. Good Luck!

You'll get better at it! I was able to put them in my eyes without use of a mirror after a time. It just takes a little practice. You'll be an old pro before you know it. :)
