Can you still wear your contacts after they've expired?!


Question: So i got a trial pair of contacts last month, and they're monthly contacts and they should expire any day now, but i dont remember what day i got them in january. so can i still wear them from now to march 1st?

Sure, you can wear them another week or so, as long as you are making sure to disinfect them every night.

As long as they are still comfortable, another few days won't hurt.

Many people can wear the monthly disposables for close to 2 months.

Wearing contacts after the expiry date can cause eye infections as bacteria builds up on them. Theres only a few days left in February; I wouldn't risk it.

They don't turn into pumpkins after one month, but try to wear glasses until you can get some more contacts. You put your eyes at risk of infection when you wear them too long.

you can wear them past the expiration date. i have 2 week contacts and i usually wear them for a month and a half when they start feeling like its time to change them. my optomitrist actually once told me that its okay to wear them a little past their expiration date. i always buy a 6 month supply and drag it out to last a year. just remember to clean them (and if you don't they're probably fine too i dump them back into their contact case w/solution and never rub)
