Eye " Twitching"?!

Question: Eye "Twitching"?

I have been experiencing eye twitching for days in a row. This has become quite repetitive and embarassing at times.
It will take about a minute or so, and sometimes it is followed by a sudden sharp pain in the same eye. I wear contact lenses during the day.
Although it happens mainly when I read in the evening in bed, there's no rule in general.
Does anyone know what causes this and how I can stop it in its tracks?

Sounds like you are tired, and maybe your eyes could do with a rest from contact lenses. If the prescription for your lenses up to date?

Further to Emily's answer - it is a common misconception that reading is low light damages your eyes. It makes them tired, but causes no actual damage. Furthermore, a lamp is likely to provide a better light for reading than a ceiling light.

reading in everning? make sure that ur reading with the ceiling light on not just say a lamp cause this damages ur eyes and cud be causing the twitching

Your eye twitches when you are tired
are you lacking sleep at all?
this has happened to me so many times.

mine did that before, I had TMJ and fixed the condition, but I forget if it stopped then or when I started doing jumping jacks and other fitness exercises... in any case, I no longer have such a problem

I have had this too. It's main cause, although their are others, is because of stress. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you straining your eyes when you read in the evening?
If it seems to be a real bother then I would go have it checked out - just to be safe - maybe their is something wrong with your contacts.
i would try getting more sleep and making sure you are not straining them at all.
Good luck.

I actually had an eye twiching problem for months after I started wearing contact lenses. I went to the MD and he found an eyelash that had gotten deep into my eye. It was coated with fluids from the eye and once he removed it my twiching went away completely and permanently.

It was way down in the bottom of my eye and I had to look up while he examined my eye for him to see it.

nothing you can do, maybe docs can give meds.... its muscle spasms
